Getting Involved

An open invitation is extended to all parents to become involved in the Catholic School Council. Representation is sought from all parents at all the grade levels in order to address the concerns and need of the entire student body.
Parental involvement and support is a critical component in a successful school community.

The Catholic School Council functions are to:
1. Provide an organized and structured means of communication with the school;
2. Advise the principal on the issues brought forward by the parents;
3. Assist the principal in informing the parents about educational issues withing the school and school board.

Parents may choose to attend meetings for informational purposes or they may wish to be involved in some of the initiatives the committees undertake.
An election of officers takes place during the first meeting of the school year. Any parent of the St. Teresa of Avila School Community can run for a position.
We welcome and encourage parent volunteers in our school. Parents are a valuable resource and their involvement strengthens home-school cooperation and communication. Through our Volunteer Program, we hope to:
1. Build on the strengths and talents of parents and others to enhance and extend the learning experiences available to our students;
2. Develop a team-approach to the education of the child
3. Assist the principal in developing the positive learning environment in the school.

The following are some of the areas where volunteers are welcomed:
